Violation Fee Exposure Guide
This guide contains a moderate selection of enacted-and-in-force U.S. state privacy laws and AI regulations, with statutory penalty structures and a modeled exposure calculation for 5 violations under each law — no assumptions made about recurrence over time.

Highest single-violation fee
Largest 5-violation modeled exposure
Calculation methodology. Each entry prices the same scenario — 5 discrete violations — at the statutory maximum per violation, with no assumptions about how violations accrue over time. Where a statute uses first/subsequent-violation tiers (Maryland, NYC Local Law 144) or imposes separate per-day penalties (NYC Local Law 144, California SB 942, Texas TRAIGA), that detail is noted on the entry but not compounded into the projection. Figures reflect regulator-assessed civil penalties only, before cure, settlement, or mitigation — private-right-of-action damages scale with the number of affected individuals and can far exceed these numbers. Enacted laws not yet operative are excluded.
